Trust Board, Social Services and The Company
Prior to its incorporation as a separate Board, the oversight of social services within the Diocese was conducted by the Council of Social Services under the auspices of the Waiapu Board of Diocesan Trustees. That Council was delegated the oversight of social services. As social services became more and more complex and the requirements for general compliance matters increased, Diocesan Synod decided it more appropriate to formulate a special Board for social services and transfer those assets to the Board.
The Board has been operational in its current form since 1990, and its formal ratification in 1992.
In 1998 the Board’s operations were separated out into two areas of work. These are Social Services for individuals and families, and the provision of residential care for the Elderly. A wholly owned company of the Board, Anglican Care (Waiapu) Limited was established to operate residential services for the Elderly.
The assets of the Trust were progressively transferred to the Company, the Trust Board remaining the sole shareholder.
This brochure sets out the three different entities.
