Code of Conduct

  

All staff of the Waiapu Aglican Social Services Trust Board and volunteers who participate in the delivery of social services shall do so in accordance with the Anglican Care Network Code of Ethics and this Code of Conduct.

1. Objective
The intention of this policy is to:
1.1 Give guidance to all employees on the standards of conduct required by the organisation.

1.2 The policy/code is designed to ensure that the employer/organisation operates efficiently and effectively and that employees and volunteers are treated fairly and equitably. Its purpose is to inform employees of the employer’s expectations of them, and of the standard of conduct that is considered unacceptable by the employer. It is an effort to explain the employer’s position clearly so that any disciplinary action does not come as a surprise to the staff.

2. Code of Conduct
2.1 Staff and volunteers are expected to act honestly, conscientiously, reasonably and in good faith at all times having regard to their responsibilities, the interests of the employer and the welfare of other staff.

2.2 Members have the responsibility to create objectives and apply their knowledge and skills to assist individuals, groups, communities and societies in their development and in their resolution of conflicts.

2.3 Staff/employees and volunteers have an obligation to the organisation to:

(a) Be present at work as required and to be absent from the
workplace only for a genuine reason (such as illness) with adequate notification given to the organisation or with proper authorization;
(b) Carry out their duties in an efficient and competent manner, and maintain specified standards of performance;
(c) Comply with lawful and reasonable employer instructions and policies employer/organisation and to work as directed;
(d) Respect the privacy of individuals and use confidential information only for the purposes for which it was intended.
(e) Never either use, nor allow the use of, organisation/employer property, resources or funds for other than authorised purposes;
(f) Incur no liability on the part of the organisation/employer without proper authorization;
(g) Maintain all qualifications necessary for the performance of their duties legally and efficiently.
(h) Never demand, claim or accept any fee, gratuity, commission or benefit from any person or persons other than the employer/organisation in payment for any matter or thing concerned with their duties and responsibilities, nor to accept any gift or favour from any source which could be seen as influencing a business relationship;
(i) Avoid conflicts of interest

Any breach of the code of conduct will be investigated in
accordance with the disciplinary process outlined in the
employees employment agreement.

3. Paramountcy of Children
For all programmes and services provided to children/tamariki
staff will provide appropriate supervision of children in
accordance with the programme requirements. These will
specify ratios and the vetting requirements. Any concerns
regarding alleged or suspected child abuse are to be dealt with
in accordance with organisational policy and guidelines.
