Volunteer

The saying goes that we do not pay volunteers because they are ‘priceless’. Certainly the value they give to Waiapu Anglican Social Services is immeasurable and highly valued. At present we are supported by some 500 volunteers, and the work that they do makes a real contribution to the lives of our families and communities. As many of our services have strong Parish links, volunteers from local churches volunteer to show their faith-based care for others.

Our volunteers work alongside paid staff and are provided training, support, and reimbursement for petrol costs. They do all kinds of work including hosting visitors, organising activities, providing company, gardening, and providing transport. From all age groups and for all sorts of reasons, volunteers use their skills and show their care for others.

Volunteering is good for you!  All of us who have been volunteers know the warmth and satisfaction that comes from being part of a community where people are learning and growing together, friendships are made, and neighbourhoods strengthened

Our Growing through Grief programmes and most of our Family & Community and Services for Older People welcome the participation of volunteers.

If you think you would like to join us, we would love to hear from you.
